Feast Day of Saint Robert Bellarmine

Born in Italy in 1542, Robert Bellarmine became a Jesuit. He was a teacher in Louvain and then a professor of theology at the Roman College. He helped revise the Latin Bible (Vulgate), directed the Roman College, supervised the Vatican library, and was the pope's theologian. Appointed cardinal and archbishop of Capua, he was greatly loved as a pastor.
